utah, june 2010, the drive

We left Pinetop at 5:30 am to drive to Wellsville, Ut. We were heading up to visit family and hit up a few reunions. We arrived in Brigham City, Ut., and stopped for dinner around 6:30pm. Wellsville is just about 10 minutes through the canyon, so our trip was about 12 hrs, minus the time change. It was a LONG drive, but made manageable by mom's laptop for games and movies, beads and jewelry making kit, and lots of yummy snacks.

My parents are huge train fans. As we drove over the tracks in Holbrook, my mom saw a train coming, so we actually turned around so we could be first in line to watch the train barrel through. They sure don't slow down much and it was LOUD! Of course I needed a picture to capture the moment...crazy Wessels!

This is the road heading out of Chinle, Az, on the Navajo Nation. This is what the road looks like through much of the reservation. Not any traffic, and straight roads make this drive nice. Not to mention the beautiful scenery.

happy travelers, for the moment! Isabel and Jacob

What trip to Utah is complete without the necessary photo by the sign? Tradition!

One with grandma.

We met my Aunt Laurel at Maddox Steakhouse in Brigham City for dinner. This place is a pretty happening place, and a favorite for my Utah family. This buffalo was our dinner guest, on the wall right above us. The kids loved it.

It was a LONG trip, but a good one. We were happy to make it safely and begin our fun!
