2010 Miller Ward Primary Talent Show

The Miller Ward primary put on its annual talent show. These are fun to attend. The kids all do such a great job. My kids signed up by themselves this year as the sign up sheet must have been passed around Primary. I didn't know what they signed up to do until I received a call confirming it. Isabel had signed up to sing, Sofia to do jumproping, and Jacob wanted to display one of his drawings. I convinced him to also play one of the songs he learned on the guitar, Spanish Theme. He does so well at the guitar. When we showed up Sat. morning for the show, Isabel had decided that she didn't want to sing. No big deal, I told her. As more and more kids showed up and took their numbered seats, I asked if she was sure she didn't want to. About 5 minutes into the program she told me she wanted to sing. I took her to her seat. She stood up and sang when it was her turn with no problem. She sang "I am Like a Star" from the primary songbook. I was going to play the piano for her while she sang. She started singing before I could even get to the piano. Too cute. She was great. Jacob did well and the audience asked for an encore. He didn't know what it meant and the emcee had to tell him to sit and play the song again. Sofia is just plain good with a jumprope and did well also. It was a fun morning.

EASTER 2010

Easter was a quiet affair this year. I should have gone home to celebrate with the fam, but I was on a 6th grade field trip that friday and babysat sobrinos on saturday and sunday, it didn't work. We did get eggs dyed, hidden and hunted for so that was a success. The Easter Bunny came eventually with all his loot. We talked about the true reason for Easter, and watched the Sunday session of conference down at the church.

a fernandez cousins weekend

This last weekend my sister-in-law (ex) asked me if I would watch her kids. They had a quick trip to LA planned. I watched my two nieces, Maggie (14)and Yessi (13), and nephew Alex(9). The kids had a blast. Late nights, dyeing easter eggs, shopping, eating, movies and Golden Spoon. Another sister-in-law (ex) called and asked if we would watch her baby....OF COURSE~ I feel a little baby hungry. LOVE babies. We spoiled her rotten for the few hours we had her. Everyone had to hold her and she was loving it. It was a long weekend, but good times to be had and memories to be made for these cousins. I {heart} them all!

Easter Pageant

We went to the Easter Pageant this year. Yea for us! I have lived so close to the Temple for so long, yet for some reason every year until this one we haven't been able to make it. The kids had been looking forward to it and we managed to get there on a Tues. night. I don't think I enjoy crowds of people. Just too many! We were able to get there early enough to get some decent seats. I had a pile of papers to grade while we waited. The kids enjoyed watching the cast members walking around. We found a couple of girls who are in our ward and managed to get a picture with them. The performance was great, I was just too tired, the seat was too hard, I had Isabel in my lap trying not to go to sleep, and Sofia forgot her jacket and was using mine, so I was a little cold. Next year we will plan differently. A blanket for the grass, and for sure not on a school night!

stylin'

Isn't she cute in her new glasses? Her old pair broke this last week. Lucky us got to spend a good chunk of time at the eye drs (I feel like we've spent too much time at the dr, the dentist, or the eye dr. lately) She had fun picking out this latest pair.

connections!

My sister in law has recently been educated in the science of 'fake' nails. i don't even know what they are really called, i think it might be acrylic nails. she wanted to practice on my and have me be a walking advertisement and finally wrangled me into coming over and getting them done. I am sooo not the fake nail type, but love the look of them and am going to enjoy playing 'dress up' for the next few weeks! It was fun to sit and visit with her and my nieces (hi Yessi and Maggie!) while having them done. She wanted to take pictures of the final result for her collection and possibly web site, and I had to laugh...i so do not have model hands. I play the piano in primary at church and had a good laugh today trying to play all the right notes. Typing this is almost killing me because I'm normally a good typist, but ha, every other letter is wrong and it's taking too long, so see ya! Thanks Mag! Love you!

Pinewood Derby, take 3

This is our third and final year at the derby! I am not the least bit sad about it! I usually dread this time of year in scouting! I have to worry about finding someone who wouldn't mind helping us build the car, weighing it correctly and making sure Jacob is happy with the end result. I can't complain really though because each year there has been some WONDERFUL ward member that gives his time to help us out. Jacob loves the derby and was happy with his car. If we could only build a car or figure a design that would help him win! He did win a few races, had a good time with his friends and received an award for the "Most Sturdy" (?) car. love it!
